We offer a wide range of services at Kingsholm Surgery. Please see the list below for more information. There are some tasks you can do, such as health reviews, using our online forms.
Antenatal care
The majority of your antenatal care is done by the midwife who holds a weekly clinic.
Asthma, diabetic care and coronary disease
We run special clinics for these conditions and appointments are offered to patients on a regular basis.
Letters are sent out to patients inviting them for their checks; these consultations usually take at least 20 minutes, so if you are unable to attend please cancel your appointment in good time.
Blood tests
If your doctor has requested that you have some blood tests you can book an appointment at the surgery.
Child health
Childhood vaccinations are given by the practice nurse from 9:30am to 11:30am every Tuesday morning, at the ages of 2, 3 and 4 months. They can be given at other times in the week if more convenient to you.
The MMR vaccine is given at 13 months, or once the other course of vaccinations is complete. A booster is given at the time at the age of 3.
Insurance medicals
These can be done by arrangement. Please ask one of the receptionists for details.
Minor surgery
After discussion with your doctor, we are happy to remove with local anaesthetic, moles, warts and other lumps and bumps.
Physio direct
Physio Direct is a phone service that has been set up to provide early advice and management for adults with back/neck/ joint problems or injuries.
For more information, please visit our physio direct page.
Sexual health
Sexually transmitted infections (STI) are passed from one person to another through unprotected sex or, in some cases, genital contact.
It only takes one episode of unprotected sex, including oral sex, to catch a STI. Advice about sexual health is available at the surgery (for oral contraception and coils and contraceptive implants). Sexual help and contraception services also available at Hope House.

Travel advice
If you are going on holiday outside of Western Europe or North America you may need to have some travel vaccinations or malaria tablets. The vaccinations, if needed, should be given at least 2 weeks before travel but can be given well in advance of your travel date.
Women’s health and family planning
We are happy to advise on all women’s health problems, pre-conception advice, all contraceptive methods, (Including post-coital contraception) along with discussion of problems associated with the menopause (change of life) and advice concerning HRT.
You will be sent a reminder when a cervical smear is due, but if you feel you have been missed for any reason, do have a word with the nurse or one of the receptionists. Our nurses are happy to advise on breast checks, but if you feel there is a problem with your breasts, it is better to see a doctor directly.
Longer appointments can be arranged if necessary. Please ask the receptionist or speak to the nurse when you make the appointment. Advice is always confidential.
